Poolhouse complex
Project Description:
The project consists of a two story poolhouse building, with an open storage room on the ground level and a poolhouse complex on the upper level. The structure is located in the corner of the rear yard of an existing house and centered on the existing swimming pool.
The pool house complex is made of three separate strucures: two pedimented brick pavilions flanking an open air pergola. The pavillion to the south contains a changing room and the one to the north, a bathroom.
The storage room below is made of poured-in-place concrete walls with precast concrete planks spanning the short distance and supporting the pavilions above. The planks are covered with a sheet memberne waterproofing with a bluestone terrace set in a bordered diagonal pattern to match the paving around the existing pool.
The south wall of this area was designed with a steel beam spanning between the two door openings so that the combined opening could be converted to a garage door at a later date.
The pavilions have painted brick and CMU walls to match the existing house with a stucco finish on the interior to prevent moisture deterioration. The wood frame, pedimented roofs are covered with Buckingham shingles on the exterior and natural finish, beaded board on the interior. The pergola is made of Tuscan order fiberglass columns with natural finish, white cedar joists and purlins above.
Enclosing the edge terrace area from the grade level below are two distinctive wrought iron railings. A large charcoal grill is located at the north end of the terrace.
